Welcome to 8th grade Math with Mr. Rosen and Mr. Fonollosa.
All 8th graders will receive the 9th-grade algebra 1 common core curriculum. They will have the opportunity to take the regent test and receive high school credit
The Algebra Regents exam is currently June 19th at 1:15 pm
Pupilpath allows you the opportunity to stay up to date on your child’s progress in math. All assignments are posted on Pupilpath. In addition, homework assignments are posted online (including uploaded copies of worksheets).
Pupilpath allows you to have your own account and an account for your child. Please make sure you have signed up to your own account linked to an active e-mail account.
Communication is vital to our success!!
Class Participation – 20%
This includes actively engaging in class discussion, working in groups productively, and participating in any online components
Homework – 10%
Homework is graded based on how much is completed and if directions are followed.
Tests and Quizzes – 40%
Tests will be announced at least a week in advance. Quizzes are also worth less than tests.
Portfolio – 30%
This includes projects done both at home and in school. Most of these assignments end up in your child’s digital portfolio.
We use the Ti-nspire cx in class. We have enough calculators so that each student has one that they will use throughout the year. You are not required to purchase this calculator for your child. If your child would like to sign out their calculator to bring home, please fill out a permission slip and return to us as soon as possible.
