PS/IS 48 offers Spanish to our 7th and 8th grade students. The Spanish program is an introduction to the language, to the customs, and to the diverse Hispanic culture.
Students acquire the Spanish language similarly to the way they learned how to speak their first language, by acquiring it naturally by listening to other people speaking it. We use a natural approach to language acquisition, and that means that almost all of our class time is spent using Spanish, and the focus is on listening and reading, and then on writing and speaking.
