May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Talk to your children about mental health. Reassure your child that it’s ok not to be ok, and they arenever alone. In-person talks promote healthy mental development. Need help getting started? samhsa.gov/mental-health/how-to-talk/parents-and-caregivers
At school, your children can talk to Ms. D’Arcy, School Social Worker, Mrs. Ramos, SAPIS counselor, and Mrs. Reese, Guidance Counselor.

Deadline Today
Anyone interested in running for a seat on the PTA Executive Board and/or SLT, must submit their Willingness to Serve Form by 11:59pm on May 12, 2024 deadline. Interested candidates can submit a hard copy to Mrs. Hionas at the main office or email their form to PSIS48.ncommittee@gmail.com. We will announce candidates names during our PTA meeting on May 14. Elections will be held during our final PTA meeting of the school year on June 12, 2024.

Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year!
Dear Families,
At PS/IS 48 we work hard to make dismissal safe for our students and quick for our parents/guardians. Over the past few weeks, we have noticed an increase in the number of parents/guardians who are double parked during dismissal. This causes an unsafe situation for our students, staff and families. At no time should you leave your car unattended while your car is double parked.
Please be reminded of the following safety protocols for arrival and dismissal:
Students should only cross the street at the corners, Never cross in the middle of the street.
Always exit the car on the curb side of the street.
Please do not double or triple park.
Please do not block driveways. Please respect our neighbors
Please do not park in the staff parking lot.
Drive slowly and cautiously.
If children are waiting at the corner please allow them to cross the street safely.
Move your car promptly when asked by a school safety member. Remember, their primary concern is the safety of all children.

Box Tops For Education: Please send in all Box Tops! Every box top is worth 10 cents. What a wonderful way to raise funds for the school and the children can help too!
Stop & Shop: Use your Stop & Shop card & link it to PS 48 to raise funds every time you shop! Simply link your card by going to their “Tools for Schools” page on their website & enter our school’s ID # 15728 & a percentage of your total will be donated back to PS 48!
Ink Cartridge Collection: We are still collecting old ink cartridges (no large cartridges please) that can be submitted for additional funding for the school.
