Not only did you put us over, but we also raised much more for the Leukemia, Lymphoma Society. All these donations go to helping patients with these blood cancer diseases.

Update on Pennies for Patients Fundraiser!
We want to thank you so much for all your donations to the Pennies for Patients fundraiser! So far we have raised over $1,445. We are so close! If everyone went on and donated $5 dollars we would make it. I'm counting on you all!

Our 10th Annual Spring Fling will be held on April 26th at the Vanderbilt, 7–11 pm. Tickets are still available for purchase at $65/person. Please submit payment in full for the entire group, along with the reservation sheet in an envelope marked “Spring Fling 2018”. Checks are payable to PS 48 PTA. We look forward to seeing everyone at the event!
2018 PTA/SLT Elections: Candidates running for a position of the PTA Executive Board or the SLT must submit their Willingness to Serve Form to the Nominating Committee by April 27th via email or in a sealed envelope addressed to the Committee and dropped off at the Main Office. Any questions regarding the election process, please forward them to the Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org. Nominations will be announced during our PTA meeting on May 9thand the Elections will be held during our PTA meeting on June 13th.
The Math State Test will be held on May 1st and 2nd for grade 3–7. On test days, please make sure students arrive to school promptly at 8am and that they bring two sharpened #2 pencils with erasers. Meanwhile, our 8th graders will be taking a Mock Algebra Regents Exam on May 1st, followed by a trip to the movies on May 2nd.
Those who placed Yankee Candle orders can pick them up from the PTA office (room 204) on May 5th between 1–2pm. Please keep in mind that some orders are large/heavy and everyone is required to sign-in at the security desk upon arrival.
Spring Book Fair (BOGO) will be held on May 7ththrough May 9th during school hours. The Fair will also be open to parents & students on May 9thfollowing our PTA meeting at 7:30pm.
May 13th is Mother’s Day! To celebrate, Blown Hair Salon is offering $25 Blow Outs as part of their Styling for Schools promotion. Use the attached flyer any Monday at checkout – now until the end of June – and 10% of the proceeds will be donated to PS/IS 48 PTA.
Saturday, May 19th join Mrs. Guthrie on a Scavenger Hunt at Grand Central! We will meet at 11:30am to purchase lunch before we start and the game will begin at 1pm. Tickets are $26/person and payment is due by April 27th.

United Activities Unlimited is offering Summer Camp at Staten Island Tech for ages 5-13. Choose between Sports & Art Camp (age 5-13) or STEAM Camp (age 10-13). The Camp will run July 5th to August 10th, 9 am to 3 pm. Doors will open at 8 am with extended day option available until 6 pm.
The NYU College and Career Lab is a free, focused, and fun five-week, July 9 - August 10, 2018, summer academic program for current 7th and 8th graders in the NYC Metro area. Students will participate in introductory week-long courses led by faculty at NYU's School of Law, Stern School of Business, Tisch School of the Arts, Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development, and Tandon School of Engineering. Each participant is also paired with an NYU student advisor who provides mentorship and guidance for the duration of the Lab. The online application is due April 30, 2018.
